Franklin Institute to honor Penn researchers who played vital role in developing COVID-19 vaccines

University of Pennsylvania researchers Drew Weissman and Katalin Karikó have been named the 2022 recipients of the Benjamin Franklin Medal in Life Science for their roles in developing the modified mRNA technology used in the COVID-19 vaccines produced by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna. The honor is among several handed out annually by the Franklin Institute to pay tribute to accomplishments in science, technology, engineering and business.
